A fight over one point ruins the mood faster than a hard question. Jawabaksa7 totals scores in the UI, but social rules—phones, when the timer starts, what counts on a blank—are on the host and the guests. Agree before the first stem. Changing the standard mid-game embarrasses people who complied.
Not every night needs a lawyer. A family house accepts “close enough.” A friends league may want only the revealed string. What matters is the announcement, not sudden strictness.
Ban during the timer: fits serious competition and offices if you said it. One research round at the end: vents the urge to search without poisoning every item. Full allow: sometimes with kids who are learning to look things up, and it must apply to adults too or a child feels cheated. Say the choice once. Silent cheating discovered late is worse than a clear rule at the start.
Start the timer after you finish reading, not during, especially on a call where audio lags. If sound drops, pause and reread for everyone, not for one team. Do not extend time for a team that is “so close” unless you would offer the same extension to the others. A background tab can jump the clock; keep it front. Devices and remote.
For blanks and short answers, pick one: accept the same meaning, or only the revealed string. City names, numerals, and Arabic versus English should be stated before the round. A tie can stay a tie; a surprise tie-break angers people if it was not announced. Written types: question types.
One host prevents double taps and angry tapping. Teams announce; the host executes. In class the teacher is on the machine. At home do not let two children wrestle the mouse. How to play.
Mocking a repeated miss pushes people out, children first. After the reveal ask “why is this correct?” not “how did you miss that?” At work do not imply the board measures professional intelligence. Family, office, and classroom.
What to say before the door: first-host checklist.
Pause the timer if the question is still open. Ask both teams to hear the ruling rather than shout. Apply the rule you wrote down or announced before the round, not a new rule because a friendly team objected. If the dispute is spelling or translation, decide once and say the same standard will apply to the next item. Then move on—a long argument is worse than one wrong point.
If phone search is discovered after the item is over, do not restart the whole night. Resolve that item under your rule (void the point, or a first-time warning) and say a repeat will count. Public humiliation damages the gathering more than the cheat itself.
